Ok, so for those of you that do not know this about me - I am co-publisher of a local family magazine here in Dallas/Fort Worth. It's called Modern Babies & Children. I just started this "Mommy Memo" thing this month and I think it's a great way to hear from local moms. Below I have pasted this month's "Mommy Memo of the Month"!!
December's Mommy Memo is brought to us by:
Meredith Liewehr of Lantana. Mother of 1 with one on the way!
TIPS
When making dinner, to "entertain" my 2 1/2 year old and make her think she's "helping" I let her pull up a chair by the counter next to me (but far enough away from the hot stove of course) and I give her a big bowl. I fill up another small bowl with water, give her measuring cups, a spoon and spices from my spice rack that I never use (who really uses mustard seeds?) or that are about to expire. She then "makes dinner" using everything in front of her - she makes a killer "spice water soup" :)
LAUGHS
This one happend just today. My daughter loves Elmos World. Today, she and I went and did some Christmas shopping with my mom. Everywhere we went and for everything we did, she came up with a version of the Elmo's World song - "La, la la la, La la, la la Dada's Tie" "La, la la la, La la la la SoSo's chicken!" My favorite - "La la la la, La la la la, SoSo's shopping!" When are American Idol auditions...???
EATS
Quick and Easy StirFry
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken - cut into chunks
I bag frozen stir fry vegetables (any kind you like)
instant rice
for the sauce:
2 TB honey
2 TB balsamic vinegar
1 TB soy sauce
2 TB orange juice
1 TB corn starch
1 TB brown sugar
make rice according to package directions (and make as much as you'd like)
In a large skillet, saute chicken chunks in a little olive oil until cooked through (about 3 minutes per side)
Once cooked, remove from skillet
Add vegetables to hot skillet (may need to add a little more oil)
Saute until soft (about 5 minutes)
While veggies are cooking, in a medium bowl, whisk together the ingredients to make sauce - set aside
Add chicken back to skillet with veggies
Push chicken and veggies to sides of skillet, leaving a small well in the middle of the skillet
Add sauce
Stir and let sauce come to a bubble to thicken
Mix in with chicken and veggies
Serve over rice!

Keira Boo is 7 Months Today..
just sitting here watching SNL realizing that I haven't blogged in a while and that Keira is 7 mths old today! Brief update:
*sitting up
*army crawling
*says "DaDa" and "RyRy" - not "MaMa" yet :(
*favorite time is bath time
*favorite food is sweet potatoes
Ry is doing well, too. The most recent thing she has learned is how to spell out her name (verbally, not writing it out) It's pretty cute hearing her spell it. She is a great big sister and loves Keira so much, she always asks me "what Keira doing" and she always wants to kiss her. Ok, that's my brief update. Hope all is well! Love you all

I Love My Husband
He amazes me every week. Everyone who knows Jake knows that he is not a social butterfly. When it comes to chatting, there is only one thing that really gets him talking and that's sports. When I see him interact with his students whether on the field, on the court or in the classroom I am reminded that the Lord has placed every detail in our lives for a reason. Not only has God given Jake a passion for loving his 2 little girls so much that he can't stand it BUT he has also given him a passion for his students, his players and for coaching. See the most recent photos below of Jake coaching the Vikings football team here in big D..and I don't mean Dallas (sorry, had to type it)

Tag, you're it..Kendra I don't know how to do this :)
Ok, Kenners sent this to me and is making me do this. I tend to think I am fairly internet/computer savvy until Kendra sends me something like this and I have NO idea how to tag people on my blog, so here we go:
Here are the official rules:
First, the rules.
1. Post the rules on your blog.
2. Write 6 random things about yourself.
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post.
4. If you are tagged, DO IT and pass it along.
Obey the rules or there will be serious consequences in the blogosphere. Ha. Just kidding.
Here are my 6... 6 things you may not know about me, that is:
1. I am a celeb gossip junkie. Not something I am proud of! I watch TMZ before bed every night. Jake makes fun of me :)
2. I love to sing. I sing at home to Jake and the gals, I sing in the shower, in the car and I am not quiet about it! It's usually praise and worship songs or rap songs, random, I know.
3. I've been to Russia..on a mission trip like 8 years ago!
4. I like studying. I sometimes want to go back to school just to study. In fact, I am about to take a class (for work) to learn the indesign software to create ads and I am soooo excited about taking the tests! haha
5. I am a horrible cook..wait, everyone knows that!
6. I LOVE playing softball and still play to this day (well last time I played I was 1 mth prego with Keira but am playing in another league this summer with the church!)
I would like to tag the only people I know who have a blog. I "officially" tag: Kendra, Heather, Emily, Keri

Oh Goodness..
I am really tired and want to go to bed but am waiting to feed K her last cereal bottle so I thought I'd blog - haven't done so in a while.
DAYCARE - is going well. Ryleigh is getting used to it and loves her teacher, Mrs. Rie. For the past week she has pee-peed on the potty at school for every potty break, go RyRy! She is strictly in training pants now and every once in a while we try the panties. Sweet Keira is doing just fine at daycare - the ladies say she is the happiest baby until she gets hungry, hahaha, sound like another Floyd gal you all know?
UPDATE -
Keira is around 17 lbs. now and wearing 9 month clothing. Love her rolly lil legs!! She is rolling over, kicking her legs like she wants to crawl and of course talking up a storm and mainly in high pitched versions :) Her favorite things are the bumbo chair (we didn't have one for RyRy), her big sister, any baby food (minus the sweet peas) and she LOVES Roxy!
Ryleigh, like I mentioned is almost completely potty trained. She is really into coloring now, which I love because I could color all day and we have put good use to her time out chair lately. Some of her favorite things right now are: Barney and Micky, reading her Bible and looking for the "Noah story", singing songs out loud and at random and she loves her new kitchen she got for her bday.
Funny things Ryleigh has said:
"be careful mama that choke you"
"Goda (God) made trees, Jesus made poopy" (not kidding - this one came out of nowhere!!!!!)
"no, Roxy, go to kitchen"
"no want time out, no want fankin (spankin)"
and before bed time, in order to stall she says "wanna go sit couch dada, watch football"
Jake:
School just started and that means football. The next few months are going to hectic and no offense to the Ryan Raiders but I am hoping they don't go too far in the playoffs so I can have my hubby back! :)
Mis:
I'm doing the same ol same ol - hanging out with my lil precious girls and working on the magazine. Our 2nd edition comes out October 20th,excited about it! I'm also excited to see what the Lord has in store for this year's home group. We start our group back next week and Jake and I are looking forward to it - that's mainly our night for just us two during the school year! Ok, I have typed way toooo much, that's all I got, how'd ya like that???
p.s. still doing that stinkin' bootcamp, Emily/Veronica if you are reading this, my arms and legs are on fire from Mon night work out with those weird discs!!!!!!

Happy 5th Anniversary!!
5 years ago today Jake and I said our I DO'S and then headed for our bahamas cruise - I wanna go to bahamas, again!
Neways, little did we know that when we got married....just 5 years later we'd have two sweet little girls. The Lord really does work in mysterious ways! Thank you, Jesus for my handsome, Godly husband and for my Keira Boo and Rylz :)

Our precious lil Ryleigh is 2 years today! I know it's very cliche but it really does seem like just the other day we were celebrating her 1 year birthday. Here are some Ryleigh quotes to get you laughing:
"ring, mama, bling bling"
"how bout it"
"look at me"
"I need more kisses"
"look I got"
"wanna have some lip gloss, mama?"
And now here are a couple of photos to see how much baby girl has changed over the years :)

Summer!
Summer, to me, is when Jake is off work and we get a chance to go on a vacation. Well, we just got back from our summer vacation and let me tell ya,it was fun but I would not recommend traveling further than an hour away with a 3mth old and a 23mth old! Yikes - tiring but fun.
We got to see Bo for the first time in a long while and we visited DisneyLand and the San Diego Zoo!
For those of you that didn't see the snapfish I will post some pics below.
Now, we are 2 weeks away from summer ending. Jake starts back with coaching stuff at the end of this month and the girls start their first daycare on July 21st(Jake's bday). I am kinda sad - no, actually VERY sad that they are going to daycare but a working mom has to do what a working mom has to do. I'm finding myself calculating how many hours of "awake time" I am getting with them vs. how many hours of daycare time they will have each week. All I can do is pray that this is what the Lord wants for K and R and pray that he gives me strength each day to deal with it. Ok, I am off my soap box now and back to work. Just wanted to take a breather and post for a moment. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer!

Bad Blogger...
I haven't blogged in a while - life at the Floyd house has been crazy crazy since Jake hit summer vacation and the first issue of Modern Babies and Children came out (check it out online www.ModernBabiesAndChildren.com/Dallas)
We all know who you really visit the blog to hear about, not about Jake and I but about tha gals (hahaha) so I will fill you all in:
KEIRA - 3 months
*cooing and smiling up a storm and all around a happy happy baby girl
*just got over a double ear infection
*in the middle of a tummy bug right now and she is still smiling :)
*has slept in her big girl crib the past few nights from about 11pm-7am (not bad!)
*loves to be sitting up and looking around
*loves her big sister (she just stares and smiles at her)
RYLEIGH - 23 months
*the 24/7 entertainment in the house from dancing to singing songs
*favorite quotes right now: "I need more snack" "what u doing mama?" "where'd Keira go?" "no, Roxy go kitchen" "wanna go fimming pool"
*her favorite songs to sing: "Jesus loves me" "Barney, I love you, you love me" "Mr. Golden Sun" "Are you sleeping"
*this summer she loves ice cream, sno cones, and going to Target with Dada or the gym with Mama
Jake is enjoying his 5 weeks off from school/coaching and we head to Cali in about a week to see "Uncle Bo" and celebrate 3 different bdays!
We are preparing ourselves for our first daycare experience and everytime we pass the treehouse academy where the gals will be going, we tell Rylz, "That's RyRy's playground" and she gets all excited. I think she will have fun and enjoy all the schedules there but I know she will miss her Mrs. Cheryl and "the boys" as we call them :)
Lastly, I would just like to say to each of you that read this blog (probably all 5 of you) I am thankful for you and thank the Lord every day for blessing me and my family like he has.

K 2 Months & Ry weekend adventure
Hope everyone is doing well! Here's a Floyd update:
Well, Keira went in for her 2 month check-up and is 12.4 lbs (90thPercentile) and 24 inches long (97thPercentile) She is a healthy little gal who loves to eat..sound like someone else you all know? I think the colic is slowly going away. We are getting to enjoy her smiles and coos now, fun stuff!
Ryleigh had an adventurous weekend!! Friday night she went to the Rangers game with her Daddy and got an Ian Kinsler jersey and also learned how to say Ian Kinsler - she had so much fun. She then spent the night with Mimi B and PawPaw and then woke up and went to Sixflags after church on Sunday with Mimi T and Pops (and J,K and I)She loved the choo choo train.
I would also like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tammy Floyd, aka Mimi T!
One last thing, I just got my mom's day gift on Friday from Jakums and I just love it - I don't want to take it off (see below)
Enjoy these few pics!! Love you all

Friends, A Birthday and A Book
While Jake and Rylz are out watering the yard, I thought I'd take a moment to blog about our eventful weekend!
First, we got to hang out with The Duty's Thursday night at Gattitown, or as Rylz calls it "dadatown" We had so much fun letting the gals run around and holding the new lil babies
We also celebrated my Mom's 30th bday (wink, wink - that's for you Momma)at Cracker Barrel!
Thirdly, Heather V and I went to a girly movie Saturday while the guys watched the gals and then the guys went to a bball game while we hung with the gals!
Lastly......my boss Tim and I FINALLY finished laying out the new Modern Babies and Children magazine. Our premier issue comes out June 20th and I will post sneak peeks later!

Here We Go....
...I thought Rylz would always be the perfect lil sleeper. Going to bed without a fuss, staying in her toddler bed until the next morning but oh no - I was WAY wrong. She reminds me of myself when I was young..scared of the dark! Last night, we put her to bed like normal but this time she kept saying "I don't want dark" "I don't want it" After about 15 minutes of crying, she fell asleep. Then around 3am she woke up, got out of her bed, opened her door and came to our room. When Jake tried to put her back to bed, she would just throw a fit and cry "hold you" (like she was scared of something). Then we let her sleep in the bed with Jake and I took Keira to sleep in the living room..that didn't work either. Then Jake took Keira in our room to sleep and I put Rylz on the couch with me..that didn't work either. We have prayed with her (even more than we do each night) and we have explained to her that Jesus watches over her and she understands that. Just still scared. If anyone has ANY suggestions, I would GREATLY appreciate it. A few "momisms" below for ya:
*only a mom would be able to carry a toddler on the left, an infant & infant carrier on her right, two bottles and a pitcher in one hand, all while wearing heels and walking down the stairs
*only a mom (dad) would be so sleep deprived that she (he) would tie a scarf from the toddler's bedroom door knob to the bathroom door knob to keep the toddler from opening the door at night (only to realize that scares her even more that she can't open the door in the dark)

A Tootsie Roll at 10:00 a.m.
I just spoke to Kendra about how Taylor was already potty trained like 2 days ago. I was excited for Taylor but frustrated because we had been trying so hard with Ryleigh. Then, this a.m. when Ryleigh and Jake stormed in the room to show me that she was eating a tootsie roll..I wanted to cry! Not because she was eating candy so early in the day but because I knew that meant she had pottied in her big girl Dora potty! Jake said that while I was in the room getting ready, she came up to him and said "wanna go potty" and so he took her in there and she peepee'd like a big girl, thus following up with the reward, a TOOTSIE ROLL! I am so thrilled that she is getting the hang of it - she just used the potty again so hopefully this time it will stick. Maybe we are bad rents for bribing our child with tootsie rolls but if you know Ryleigh, you know that she is motivated by food, not toys!! haha

Sleep Deprived and Blessed
I think the title of this post explains it all. I am not going to complain or go into detail about how tired I am because I also know how blessed both Jake and I are, but we'll just say that the Lord, prayers and coffee are the only things getting me through this first month of having 2 kiddos! Here are a few pics I took recently, and don't laugh at the ring photo - something I wanted to do and Emily and Heather never got around to shooting it.
In addition to limited sleep, the past 4 weeks have also taught me that being a mom is not only joyful and challenging but it is also VERY COMICAL!
WARNING: If you have a weak tummy, I wouldn't attempt to visualize some of these :)
Also Note: in many instances you may 86 MOM and sub DAD
I have decided to begin posting my "mom experiences" on this blog. I hope that you get a chuckle out of them. Here we go:
*Only a Mom would have half a chicken nugget fall out of her shirt when changing into her jammies at night
*Only a Mom would see something suspicious on the floor & immediately run to her toddler only to find the toddler's diaper falling off and a little "prize" falling out
*Only a Mom would have to wait until 10:30 pm to make her first trip to the bathroom
*Only a Mom would be able to say they have seen "projectile poopy"*
*Only a Mom would need her hair cut so badly that she would hold her newborn on her chest and bounce her while the cutting and styling continued on
More to come in the future, and to all of my mom friends - please feel free to submit your "Mom Experiences" and I will post them next time, as anonymous, of course!

2 Week Check Up & a 20-month-old
Lil Keira went in on Friday for her 2 week check up!! Her numbers were:
70% in weight
75% in height
50% in size of head
So far she is sleeping pretty well at night and her favorite things are:
the swing
the play gym
She is such a sweet littlt gal and already has the best big sissy!
Rylz is doing great with Keira. At first it was challenging but each day gets better and better. She loves holding the bottle while K eats and she likes burping her. She always wants to help out and always wants to "hold sissy" or "pick up Keira". They are going to be best buds, I can tell :)
Ryleigh also now understands "I love you" and uses it at all the appropriate times AKA when Jake is trying to leave her in the church nursery and she wants to stay with us in the service. Screaming, "I love you, I love you" over and over again makes it hard to drop her off in there. But of course, once we leave, she has fun playing with the kiddos and learning about Jesus :)
Last thing and I will stop typing but Ryleigh also cracks us up when she puts her sentences together. It amazes me how much these lil people can do at such a small age. Some of my favorites sentences of Ry's are:
"knife hurt you, careful."
"bug bite you"
"I shut door"
"I want some go-fish (goldfish)"
Well it's about bed time - I will update again in a few days hopefully with a fresh pic. Love you all!

2 cuties
Just wanted to update the blog and say that both Jake and I just love our two lil gals. Although the past 2 weeks have been very tiring and challenging with 2 trips to the ER, we are so thankful to the Lord for blessing us with our family! I have attached some photos Heather took of my lil ladies at chick-fil-a on Saturday. Hope everyone is doing well :)

Sweet Baby Keira
Those motherly instincts were right...baby K arrived like 2 weeks early on Tuesday, March 25th at 8:35 a.m. weighing in at 8lbs 2oz and 21 inches long.
Just a brief run down..Ryleigh and I went with Heather V to Jake/Josh/Javi/Tyler's/yadayada softball game Monday night. Got home from the game, put Rylz to bed, ate some captain crunch berries cereal, watched How I Met Your Mother and started having horrible contractions. Called Heather V at 1130pm and she came over to stay with Rylz while we headed to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, we called our rents and they were on their way. (both Mimi's were sure this was it!)I text Kaylee and Heather P cuz I knew they were in a late late movie and would be awake and they headed to the hospital after their movie. To make it short, my medicine worked this time and like 8 hours later Keira was here and I was pain free!! Praise the LORD for that! And praise the Lord for our little miracle.
(thanks to Heather & Josh for putting up with my false labor and the actual labor and coming over to watch Rylz...life savers for real. Thanks to Kay and Chabib for keeping the grandparents occupied in the waiting room while the hours passed)
Ok, well I will blog alot over the next few weeks of my maternity leave so I won't bore you right now. Enjoy the photo and I will post more once Emily gets the photo shoot posted. Hope all is well with everyone. Happy April!

Easter Sunday and Baby Watch
Happy Easter! On top of spending time with family and friends, I hope everyone had time to think about what Easter really represents today. I will quote a part of one of my favorite worship songs at church "sin has lost it's power, death has lost it's sting, from the grave you've risen..victoriously." Love that song and am so thankful to the Lord for bringing us to the Village Church where we met up with our home group which we LOVE and wouldn't replace for anything!
Secondly, we are on major baby Keira watch! She has tricked us already about 2-3 times. Thursday night, we actually made Josh and Heather come over at like 1am and sleep on the couches while we went to the L&D floor. We sadly went back home around 430am still PREGO!! So, everyone just pray for a healthy and speedy arrival for Baby K!
I am going to attempt to fall asleep now - these contractions don't really allow me to get much rest. Hope all is well with everyone (all of the 5 ppl that actually read this blog! hahaaha)

Elmo in February & Snowing in March!
We are finally all over the flu! Praise the Lord for that yeah! With that being said, we had a great time at the Sesame Street Concert. Ryleigh and her friend, Mallory actually sat through the entire thing. What a fun little event for the gals just a few weeks before their new little sisters arrive!
Also, weather here in DFW has been crazy. Two snow days in one week...wow! Rylz got out in it today and wasn't a big fan of touching it or standing in it. She enjoyed looking at it and watching her dad make snowballs and the little snowlady.
Some funny things Rylz has been up to:
*everytime we leave Mrs. Cheryl's "where Blane and Jaxson and Garrett and Cheryl?"
*says "cuse me" after someone burps or sneezes
*instead of me saying "good girl" she likes to say it herself when she does something big
*can count up to number 8
*making complete sentences like "i want more cereal" or "where'd Roxy go?" or "dat tickles".."dat funny"
*picked out her first outfit today and chose her LT Chargers jersey with pink crocs - wonderful! hahaaa
*everytime we open up her Bible to read it, she wants to know "where's Noah?" and any guy in the photos with a beard (which is every man in the kiddy Bible - she thinks is Noah)hhahaa
Update on Keira:
The plan is to be induced March 28th but we all know that no matter what you plan on..sometimes doesn't happen. So, whatever the Lord wants to happen will happen but right now March 28th is the date. We are very excited for her arrival but are not anywhere near complete with the nursery. I will attach a photo for you to view.
Hope everyone is well- love you all!

The Flu, Jason Kidd and Elmo!
Well the month of February has been filled with all sorts of adventures and there are still 10 days left!
First of all...Rylz had her 18mth check up (a lil late) and was healthy with 25% in weight, 75% in height and 97% for her kinda big head, I guess. Ryleigh also had a great Valentine's Day with Mrs. Cheryl and the boys. They baked cookies and decorated cupcakes and got really messy! The next day she got sick. The doc thinks it may have been the flu but all she had was a fever and that's it. A little runny nose - but other than that, acting normal. Now I think I am getting it..whatever it is. If she felt like I do..then poor thing :(
Jason Kidd is coming to Dallas - as if you didn't already know and we are going to his first big game here in Dallas. You know the whole fam will have to get the #2 jersey now :)
We also took a trip to Lubbock and hung out with the Floyds, as well as Boompa and Kay and watched Dustin's first baseball game at LCU. Ryleigh had fun and loved the plane ride!
This past weekend we took maternity photos and Rylz was not happy about it. We will see how they turn out but Emily did a great job being patient with us! Thanks Emily :)
Lastly, this coming weekend, Rylz gets to meet Elmo in person! We are taking her to Sesame Street Live - something that my brother and I both went to as lil kiddos and now Rylz is getting to go. We are going with the Mihalik's so Rylz can enjoy the concert with her friend, Mallory!
Update on Baby Keira Elizabeth:
Last week's doc appt went well. K is about 4 lbs and I am WAY more than that in lbs..haha. She is in the right position and ready to go. We are looking at the last weekend in March for induction, so we will see. Just keep praying that she is healthy!
Next week I will post photos from the Elmo concert and the maternity shoot! Thanks for reading this..whoever you are :)

p.s.
we obviously are no longer keeping baby girl's name a secret. wasn't that easy for me to keep it hush-hush :)
Update on Rylz and Keirz!
Hey Gang (not sure if anyone even reads this)
I was just doing some work in front of the computer and decided to take a breather & blog, so here we go:
Update on Ryleigh:
Rylz is doing great. She amazes Jake and I each and every day. With her finger nails painted (thanks to Mrs. Cheryl and her patience) and her hair up in "half ponies" I feel like she is growing up WAY to fast. Hmmm, I would update you on the words she has been saying but she is basically saying any and everything(which is scary in itself). She knows her colors (mainly orange, blue and purple) and we are working on her numbers right now. Her current favorite things are:
*blocks
*bear (as always, that poor thing is worn out)
*baby & baby stroller
*rocking horse
*Noah & Sarah & the ark(don't ask me why, but she thinks Abraham's wife is Noah's wife..haha)
*singing the ABC's while making the itsy-bitsy spider motions (strange I know)
*puzzles
Update on Keira (Keirz):
I went to the doc today and things are looking pretty norm. Baby girl is facing downward and is ready to go, I guess...but I think I am more ready than she is! I am ready for the back pain and heartburn to go away oh and I'd love to be able to breathe when I am sitting indian style, playing blocks with Rylz.
Jake and I just finished the nursery furniture so now we have the walls painted and the furniture up. It's time for the fun stuff...DECOR! I am thinking: small little murals of birdies and polka dots around the room with Bible verses thrown in between. I will post a very rough draft photo of the nursery for you to see - Ryleigh calls it "sissyBoo" (sissy's room)
And as Kelly Raspberry would say "that's all I got, how'd ya like that?"

Happy 2008!
Rylz, Jake and I had a great Christmas with our families and a fun lil New Year's Eve. This photo of Jake and Rylz was taken NYE after our trip to Marble Slab for Ice Cream - yummy!
Update on Rylz:
For those of you who haven't seen Ryleigh in a while, she is growing up so fast, repeating everything she hears & learning how to be "easy with the baby" and how to "give kisses to the baby" Right now, she just understands that there is a baby in Mama's tummy. We will see what she does when Baby Keira actually arrives! Ryleigh also just started sleeping in her big girl bed and is doing pretty well with it. We are starting the potty training but it is very challenging!
Update on baby Keira:
She is growing fast, as well and in fact I feel that she will be here at the end of March instead of April 6th but we'll see. Jake and I JUST started thinking about the nursery so we are a lil behind on that
Everything else is good! Jake is back to school teaching and I am back working. Same 'ol Same 'ol
